Text analysis
The students are beginning to analyze the poem and letter both titled "Dear Basketball" in preparation for writing their own original text.

The students will be looking at how to write with a unique voice, using techniques such as flashbacks and chronological order to organize their ideas, incorporating figurative language to create imagery and the effectiveness of a purposeful writing format/style.
There will also be a speaking and representation component to this project. The work will be done in class, so step-by-step modeling and feedback can be provided.
