There are a few reasons why going to college can be very expensive.  To begin, the main reason college costs a lot money is because of tuition.  For example, each course in college costs around 500$.  A full time course load per semester is five courses.  Therefore, for one year courses alone cost 5000$.  Another reason why college is expensive is because you must buy books for your courses.  To be specific, each teacher will require you to buy their book which often costs around 100-200$.  This can add around 2000$ per year. This is why college costs so much.
