For the first project of the year you will be telling your story.  In the digital age there many ways in which we can tell our story and often to a large audience.  We need to think critically how we will share our selves and what we will say.  As a class we will be looking at different platforms and personas that people across a variety of texts and create a sample of what our story may look like.

Ideas of formats your project may take:  Blog, Photo essay, comic, visual art with captions, mock social media page,

Curriculum objectives covered in the project:
General Outcome 1 (Gr. 7)

Students will listen, speak, read, write, view and represent to explore thoughts, ideas, feelings and experiences.
1.1 Discover and Explore
Express ideas and develop understanding

Experiment with language and forms
                select from provided forms of oral, print and other media texts those that best organize ideas and information and develop understanding of topics

3.1 Plan and Focus
Focus attention
                consider audience, purpose, point of view and form when focusing topics for investigation

use appropriate visual, print and/or other media effectively to inform and engage the audience

3.4 Share and Review

4.2 Attend to Conventions
identify differences between standard English and slang, colloquialism or jargon, and explain how these differences affect meaning

5.1 Respect Others and Strengthen Community



Criteria to include in your project:

A plan – Your plan should include what platform you will be sharing your story on, who your audience will be, what point of view, brief outline of your story and style you will use.

Example:

Platform: Blog post
Audience: People who enjoy hiking and being out in the mountains

Point of view: First person

Style: Information guide with personal anecdotes

Story:  This blog will have posts about different hiking adventures and will include information on the hiking routes as well


Final project – this will vary depending on your choice of presentation
